5 Sloe Gin Cocktails for Summer

in Mixology May 5, 2022

Sloe gin might be a great accompaniment to roaring fires and chilly nights, but these five serves are intended to make the most of the spirit’s summery side.

Bursting with ripe berry flavours, Sipsmith Sloe Gin is evocative of a summertime bounty and is ideally suited for mixing. For your next garden soiree, take inspiration from these five warm-weather cocktails.

1. SLOE GIN & LEMON TONIC

We all know that making a perfect G&T is an essential summertime skill, but have you considered a Sloe Gin & Lemon Tonic? Fruit-forward but still just as spritzy and refreshing as the original, it’s one of our favourite sloe gin cocktails for summer.

Fill a highball glass or Copa de Balon with very cold ice. Pour in both gins and top up with the desired amount of tonic. Stir briefly to blend and garnish with a lemon slice and raspberry.

2. SLOE-JITO

Are you a mojito lover? Then try our ginny twist on the classic serve for a sweeter, summer-ready way to sip Sloe Gin in the heat. The perfect refreshing cooler for your BBQ and summer parties.

Add all of the ingredients into a highball with crushed ice. Churn to mix the mint leaves through and garnish with a sprig of mint.

3. SLOE GIN SPRITZ

We can’t get enough of spritzes of all shapes and sizes – but a Sloe Gin Spritz is truly the way to our hearts during the summer months.

  • 50ml Sipsmith Sloe Gin
  • 10ml port
  • 75ml lemonade
  • 75ml prosecco
  • Lemon twist and blackberry, to garnish

Fill a Copa de Balon glass with very cold ice and add the first three ingredients. Stir gently to blend, top up with prosecco, and gently stir again. Garnish with a lemon twist and blackberry.

4. SLOE BRAMBLE

Blackberries are at the heart of a Bramble and – with its complementary dark fruit flavours – sloe gin is a fitting companion. Learn to make a simple sugar syrup with our easy-to-follow recipe and you’ll be ready to prepare this sloe gin summer cocktail in seconds.

5. SLOE ROYALE

A British take on the classic Kir Royale using our Sloe Gin, this cocktail is a sure-fire winner at any cocktail party. This serve couldn’t be simpler – or more celebratory.

Add the sloe gin to a chilled flute, top up with champagne and garnish with a lemon twist.
